Our clients wanted a separate contemporary retreat attached to the rear of the family home at a fixed cost. gyd architects worked to develop a design and build solution with just over two weeks build time. “We have done many conversion and extension jobs through conventional wet trade builders, but this was the first time we have ever created a building like this. My vision was to create an extension to our existing house that would be in keeping, however totally different and contemporary, but it was proving impossible to find an architect who understood what I meant. I came across gyd architects and sister company Ecospace through recommendation. After researching their work and our first meeting, I realised we may finally be able to make the dream come true. A lot of hard work and preparation by them, behind the scenes, before the big day arrives, and then comes the big lorry! The building went up so fast I had to take photos to remember exactly what had happened every hour of the day and after 16 days we moved in. The whole process went extremely smoothly, the team was great to work with and the end result is stunning. We now have our own little bit of tranquility in a busy house and everyone who comes in and sees it can’t help but say “WOW”. I can’t wait for the summer now when we can throw open the big glass doors and enjoy the garden as well.”
